Grand Views free, before school Run Club

Run Club starts on September 24th!

Everyone welcome : Mon, Weds, Friday 7:45am-8:05am on the grass field.

Running for Fitness & Running for a Cause at Grand View

"Kids Helping Kids with Shoes that Fit and Socks that Rock" Program.
This program incorporates all 5 Manhattan Beach
elementary school Run Clubs. Each child (TK-5th grade) that accumulates a marathon distance throughout the year (26 miles) earns the privilege of having a pair of Skechers shoes and Legends socks donated to a child in need in Lawndale or The Richstone Family Center. We will hang a "Pay It Forward" tag on the school fence to reflect the donation.  Each pair of shoes benefits 2 kids!

When: 7:45 am to 8:05 am Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.

Backpacks: Backpacks can be lined up on along the lower field or Kids can hang their backpacks outside classrooms, but please no knocking on classroom doors to chat with teachers, who may be preparing for their day.

Where: Lower grass field. Start line by the baseball backstop.

Who can run? All Grand View Gators. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to run or walk also! (Use it as your morning workout!)

What if it is wet? Wet shoes OK, Wet clothes not. If it is raining or rain looks imminent, run club will close for the day. We will send an email out at 7 a.m. to confirm no Run Club that day!

How does my child participate? Just show up. A personalized Run Club card is waiting for EVERY child at the field whether they run or not, grouped per grade, in a box with their teachers name on it.

How it works:

  • Each Run Club day, boxes (1 per class) will be lined up along the fence with cards.
  • Run cards contain students name, Run Club number, teacher and bar code.
  • After collecting their card from the box, kids stretch & running commences at 7:45 a.m.
  • As the runners complete a lap, they will pass by a parent with a digital scanner.
  • At 8:05 a.m., kids will replace their run cards into their class box.
  • Laps will be uploaded each run club day.
  • Kids will have access to their progress online by downloading the Stride Track Ap or going online

What if I lose my card?: “A learning opportunity” presents itself. It was most likely either filed in the wrong box. Please help your kids understand they are filing alphabetically and to look for the box with their teachers name on it. OR it was removed from the field by a runner. Cards must stay on the field and returned to boxes daily. We will store safely for you. We may not be able to count laps that day, depending on when and where it is determined lost.
A lost Run Club card card can be replaced. We can email you the card PDF, which you can print and laminate. Please leave all cards at Run Club to avoid this!
