Young At Art

Young at Art is an enrichment program through which children in grades K – 8 have the opportunity to create six rich and meaningful art projects over the course of each school year.

During each one-hour session, students learn about different artists, the associated art history, and a wide variety of media and techniques. Students are taught by trained, parent volunteer art docents and assisted by other volunteers, who direct students in the process of creating their own, original works based on the artistic styles presented.

Our primary goal is to provide quality art projects in a non-judgmental atmosphere. We stress the creative process rather than the end result. We present some technique and some art history. The emphasis of YAA is that there is no right or wrong way, no failure, and no grades. Success lies in the eyes and mind of the child.

For more information, or to find out how to become a YAA docent, please contact Sene Gray or Irene White.
