PARTICIPATION IS EASY, EXCITING AND EMPOWERING
The National PTA Reflections program is PTA’s cornerstone arts program. It was developed in 1969 by Colorado’s PTA President Mary Lou Anderson to encourage students to explore their talents and express themselves. Since then, the Reflections program has inspired millions of students to reflect on a specific theme and create original artwork. Each year, students in Pre-K through grade 12 are recognized for bringing the theme to life through dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts.
All Grand View Students TK/K – 5th grade are invited to participate and submit original artwork in one of six areas:
Artworks are submitted first to Grand View PTA, where they are recognized, celebrated and judged. School PTAs then choose a selection of entries to be judged by the Manhattan Beach PTA Council and then the California 33rd District PTA. The final artworks submitted to the California State PTA are then considered for Awards of Excellence or Awards of Merit. Award of Excellence entries then go on to represent California in the final National PTA judging round.
STATE-LEVEL AWARD OF EXCELLENCE HONOREES RECEIVE:
The opportunity to showcase their artwork at the California State PTA Convention;
Prizes including an Award of Excellence medal, certificate and a $100 savings bond presented on stage at Convention;
An expense-paid trip for the award-winning student and one parent/guardian to the Convention;
National-level Award of Excellence honorees are recognized at the National PTA Convention, plus their artworks are featured in Reflections’ popular traveling national exhibit.
